  1. Thanks for checkin’ out my blog!

Ah, well. Even if your real name isn’t Arleen, it doesn’t take away from the amusement I experienced when I stumbled upon your blog. Lol.

The quote from my entry about love actually comes from Jean Anouilh, a French dramatist. But you’re right…it does sound Biblical and I highly infer it from the Bible.

  2. i liked your blog – lots of cool postings!

  3. Hey–stop what you are doing right now and go to Itunes and buy James Morrison–have had the cd for a couple weeks but just saw him at the Magic Bag in Dee-troit. Mark this blog right now–he will be selling out 20K arenas within a year to 18 months. I was blown away! Watch for him near you and make the trip. Sounds like Stevie Wonder–heard a rumor that Clapton was in the audience because he plays tomorrow here in Motown. Are you buying it yet????

  4. checking him out now! just ame through deetroit last night – cool airport by the way! like that long tunnel like area between councourses – pretty cool!

  5. good shout out dee-troit! james is playing with my boy john mayer july and august. sweet. i’m listening to james right now and really like him. a must add to my ipod. thanks!

  6. Nice you could drop by our little hanger here in D town. Before the new airport I had said the only thing about my job I disliked was the old airport. The NWA club is sick at the “A” Concourse.

On James Mo’–keep an eye out for live stuff on iTunes or anywhere because as good as that CD is he was insanely good live as any truely talented artist does. Some singers seem to “sing with ease” on stage–James is not one of those performers. Similar to Ray L. by the way. A very laborious effort required to belt out the songs but the results are terrific. Lets hope his voice can sustain the stress he seems to put on the vocal chords. Happy Easter.

  7. need to stop by the nwa club – for frequent flyers only? perhaps you can get me in there :-)

yea – james is alot like ray that way. seems to be strained, but putting soul into it. ive found myself time and time again coming back to that npr show from ray in dc. that first song is just great…unbelieveable! thanks for turning me onto him.

some other more indie guys ive been listening to: kings of leon, raconteurs, wolfmother, built to spill. check em out!

  8. Buddy just played me Wolfmother the other day–I liked it–Made me think of Sabbath and Zep a little. Was good. Will try some of the others you mentioned.

I go back to that NPR show as well–Barfly is still my fav on that. Moving performance. Can’t remember if I mentioned the opener–Trystan Prettyman–her big song is Love, Love, Love. She is dating Jason Mraz and so they play together on her album.

  9. deetroit – wolfmother reminds me alot of sabbath – its great! all i listen to know when working out. kings of leon is a similar band – check them out.

have you been able to download that ray show from npr? i havent…cant get it. did download a son volt show the other day, but rays doesnt appear to be available.

  10. Been a sick couple weeks of shows–Kenny Wayne Shepard (sp?) last night on his Blues tour with old legends–was a privilege to be in the audience. Really felt like a once in a lifetime deal as these old blues musicians on this project are passing on. 6 of the 10 he worked with on the cd are now passed within the last 6-12 months.
CD/DVD is called 10 days down or something to that effect. Stevie Ray Vaughan’s old band members play with Kenny. Was a history lesson in the blues. Note–he is married to Susan Tedeschi who is a great blueswoman herself–like Bonnie Raitt. Check her out too–Live from Austin.

Tragically Hip Thursday–30 person party bus–NICE!

  11. i like kws alot – great blues music! i dont think susan tedeschi is married to him though, shes married to derek trucks. another phenomenal young guitar player. newphew to the allman brothers butch trucks (drummer). hes played with the abb and many others.

  12. Hi! I was surfing and found your blog post… nice! I love your blog. :) Cheers! Sandra. R.
