Romantica
If you like alt-country at all check these guys out – Romantica! I was just introduced to them by a friend and they have quickly risen to the top of my playlist. They are very similar to Ryan Adams…just with a slide guitar and horns in some of their songs. They have a local presence in Minneapolis, playing their twice in the next few weeks. They aren’t a band that will ever sell out the Xcel Center, but who cares. I’d pay top dollar to see them at a place like the FineLine!
I’m with ya beep. Saw these guys by chance at the fine line a couple years ago and was thoroughly impressed. A mix of mn rockabilly with an Irish-born lead singer. There first cd “It’s your weakness that I want” is solid. The follow-up “America” has gotten national acclaim. Saw the CD release show at Varsity Theater in June. The horns on National Side we’re fun to see live. The two trumpet players were members of a band that opened for them. All in all, a great small-venue band with a bigtime sound.
Pants – yea I am really liking the second effort called America from them. thanks for the history on them and next time they are playing we should try and check them out. preferably on a weekend for us small town rural folk.
