Skype
I’ve been hearing alot about Skype lately, anyone out there run it? Also noticed, that it’s available for hte iPhone which I downloaded last night. Both my cousin and uncle are in the middle east, so I might use it to chat with them. Our little nephew and his parents use it too, so I think I’ll go pick up a web camera, install the app, and see how it works. Assuming I’ll also need a mic, but maybe some cameras have them built in.
Hey….and don’t forget about your Dad so he can chat with your uncle……my brother. Let’s install one for him too…..OK?
I used skype to talk to Nik via webcam when he was in Italy. It worked great!!
I bought the Logitech QuickCam Communicate Deluxe yesterday for $50…retails for $79, but I found it on sale and additional discounted as an open item at best buy. There are some very nice wireless cameras that I considered, but in the end I suspect the novelty of it’s use will wear off. Anyway, installed in minutes and up and running. As for Skype, as I expected it’s just another IM client that has video chatting capability, same as GTalk, MSN Messenger, AIM, etc. I actually like the video chat on GTalk more than the Skype client, but anyway.
